THE AVATARIC ADVENT

The Avatar comes in many forms in each age for the redemption of mankind. Simply speaking there are two forms of avatar - the part-avatar and the full or purna-avatar. The part-avatar only manifests a proportion of the 12 Divine Qualities. The Purna-Avatar however embodies all twelve of the qualities in one form or advent. So the Avataric cycle has major and minor advents within it. A full Avataric cycle is 72,000 years. However within this the minor advents of part-avatars run every 700 years. The full Avataric cycle relates to the Hindu understanding of the 10 Avatars of Vishnu the Preserver during the four world ages.

The matter of major and minor Avatars is mostly unimportant. What is relevant however is the final 10th advent of Vishnu in the form of Kalki.
